Karyn is an occupational therapist with over 12 years of experience working with children and families. She has specific expertise in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, social-emotional challenges and fine and gross motor delays. She has an interest in supporting children across a range of areas including sensory processing, emotional regulation, social skills and motor skills such as handwriting.
Background and Experience
Karyn has extensive experience in Early Childhood Intervention Services (ECIS) and providing support for children in educational settings including childcare, kindergarten and school. She is an experienced presenter and educator having taught occupational therapy subjects at Kangan Tafe. Karyn has been employed in various project positions including using family feedback to develop service delivery recommendations for a state-wide disability service. Karyn has also travelled internationally and attended training at the Mifne Centre for children with Autism.
Karyn is a fully registered occupational therapist (AHPRA) and a member of OT Australia. She holds an Arts Degree with Honours in Psychology and a Master of Occupational Therapy Practice. Karyn is a registered provider for Better Start and Helping Children with Autism (FaHCSIA). She can also provide services through Medicare including focused psychological strategies.
Karyn is the director of Melbourne Kid’s Therapy which provides occupational therapy for children at home, school and in clinic.
Karyn is passionate about empowering children to build their skills and confidence to participate in everyday activities. She works closely with parents and teachers to support children’s participation across all environments. She values working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide collaborative, high quality interventions and support best outcomes for children and families.
