Romi Rimer

Associate Professor Rimer enjoys all aspects of paediatrics in children from birth to 18 years. Romi’s broad interests and expertise include medical issues (such as asthma, continence issues, constipation and encopresis, eczema, allergies, growth monitoring, headache, abdominal pain, seizures and tics) as well as developmental and behavioural issues (such as unsettled babies, sleep disturbance, developmental delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, anxiety, school readiness and learning difficulties).

Background and Experience

Romi graduated from Monash University with honours and trained through the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) and in the United Kingdom. She currently works at the RCH as a paediatrician and Director of Paediatric Education. Romi is also the Director of the Victorian Basic Paediatric Training Consortium, which is responsible for all basic paediatric trainees and the 18 different hospitals around the state in which they train.

Romi is actively involved in teaching junior medical staff as well as medical students from the University of Melbourne. Romi is an expert reviewer for the Raising Children Network website.

Practice Philosophy

Romi believes in holistic care and looking at all aspects of a child’s life. Being a mother of two herself, Romi believes that all children are unique and special in their own way. She loves working with children and their families to ensure that they reach their full potential, both physically and emotionally.
