Clinical Interests

Laura is an Occupational Therapist with over fourteen years experience working with children and their families. She has specialist skills working with children with neurological impairments such as Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Cord Injury, as well as Developmental Delays. She has a passion for early intervention, seeing the gains young babies make with targeted intervention.

Background and Experience

Laura has built extensive clinical experience working at leading Tertiary Hospitals within both Australia and abroad in London. Laura spent many years working with the Occupational Therapy team at the Royal Children’s Hospital and more recently as the Senior Occupational Therapist at Monash Children’s Hospital. Laura is also the Director of Neuroreach Therapy, which provides Occupational Therapy services in the home, school and clinic settings to meet the needs of the child and family.

Laura has trained in many specialist assessment and therapy interventions and contributed to research projects in infant assessment, utilising her accreditation in the Assisting Hand Assessment and the Bayley Scale of Infant and Toddler Assessment 4th Edition. She is also trained in the Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination, Family Centred Care and The Strengths Based Approach. She has developed her expertise in evidence-based practise of infant assessment and upper limb therapy.

Laura has extensive experience operating under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and understands how to best assist families navigate this complex system. She has compiled many reports following specific assessments, which have assisted families obtain necessary supports. Her experience covers initial applications, plan review reports, through to specialised equipment and car modification assessments.

As a mother herself, Laura focuses on meaningful and achievable goals. She works with each individual family to create therapy opportunities that sit within their routine, to meet the realistic time demands each family faces.

Laura is an active member of OT Australia; has completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at La Trobe University, as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation (Neurology) from the University of Adelaide.
